Frequently Asked Questions

Is a referral necessary from my Doctor?

No referral is necessary if you are receiving treatment as a private patient. If however, you have been involved in motor vehicle accident or a work related injury then it’s necessary to visit your GP for a referral.  You can, however, begin treatment before you get the referral, so that there is no delay in your rehabilitation!

Also, if you are receiving treatment under the Chronic Disease Management Plan or as part of Department of Veteran Affairs, then a GP’s referral will be required.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

We suggest that you arrive 5 or 10 minutes prior to your appointment to complete any necessary paperwork and change your clothing if required. All new clients will need to complete personal information and privacy forms. The Physiotherapist may request that you remove some clothing in order to adequately assess your injury/posture. It is recommended that you wear loose comfortable clothing.

What do I need to bring?

Yourself. Any relevant paperwork (letters/referrals from your doctor, x-ray reports, WorkCover certificates, etc.). Comfortable clothes for exercising in if you’re attending a Pilates session.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes please, appointments are necessary to allow the physiotherapists to provide adequate quality time to treat each patient appropriately. Emergency patients are always given priority.

How long does the treatment take?

You will usually be here for 30-40 minutes for Initial consult,  and 20 minutes for follow up appointments.  Depending on the nature of your injury extended appointments may be needed.

How often will I need to come?

A: After assessment by your physiotherapist, a plan for treatment will be discussed with you, which will make this clear.

Will I be out of pocket?

If you have private health extras cover, please bring your card in on the day and your rebate will be deducted from the total cost on the spot.  Payment is required at the time of your consultation.  We offer HICAPS and EFTPOS facilities for your convenience.  We are preferred providers for BUPA (previously known as Mutual Community, MBF and HBA).

Can I keep seeing the same physio?

A: Definitely. We always strive to provide continuity of care by booking you in with the same Physiotherapist for each visit.  Exceptions may apply if there has been a long break in your treatment or if you request the earliest available appointment, but you will always be consulted first.
